John Wick Spinoff Ballerina Set To Be Directed By Len Wiseman

The John Wick universe is ready to expand. It has been announced that Ballerina, a female-centric spinoff of the franchise, is in the works.

Stepping up to helm the film is Len Wiseman, most famously known for launching his career with another female-driven action franchise, the vampire/werewolf Underworld series.

Ballerina focuses on a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family. The character was glimpsed in the last John Wick film and it isn’t clear at this point whether Keanu Reeves will be in the film, though if he does it will be a cameo. He is on board behind the scenes as a producer along with Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, & Kaley Smalley, head of development for Wiseman’s Sketch Films.

The spinoff is said to be on the fast track as Lionsgate gears up on John Wick 4. John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum has grossed more than $323 million worldwide at the box office and in home entertainment, it is the highest-grossing home entertainment title Lionsgate has released in more than five years.
