Halloween Kills was one of the most anticipated films of 2020 and after being pushed to October 2021, became one of this year’s anticipated films. With the upcoming release of his upcoming studio album Lost Themes III: Alive After Death, John Carpenter spoke about the death theaters and also said that Halloween Kills could possibly go straight-to-streaming.
Carpenter stated:
Sure. Halloween may be shared that way [streaming] because theatres are dead. It’s just the reality right now. And it’s a tragedy, but it’s true. We just have to face it. The studio did contact David [Gordon Green, director of Halloween Kills] and I, and they had us put off the new one by a year in the hope that things got better. So we’re still hoping it will get better.
Now, of course, as Carpenter also said, “the studio…had us put off the new one by a year in the hope that things got better”, so the film is still currently on track for a theatrical release, but who knows where the year will take us
