After rumors started last week about his casting, it has now become official: Jeremy Renner is set to star alongside Jamie Foxx in Spawn.
Renner will play Detective ‘Twitch’ Williams, an unconventional detective that is near fearless and compliments Spawn’s demonic powers. Twitch is best known for being part of the detective duo “Sam & Twitch,” but in McFarlane’s movie, Twitch will be taking center stage alongside Al Simmons/Spawn. That dynamic is central to the movie, according to McFarlane. The creator said without Twitch, Spawn can’t make any headway in his battle against evil.
This Spawn reboot will mark the directorial debut of Spawn creator Todd McFarlane & also has Blumhouse Productions behind it which is looking to make the film R-rated & carry a budget between $10-12 million. The next step will be to lock a distributor to set the financing but with a package deal of Jamie Foxx, Blumhouse, & Jeremy Renner? I think this might have a strong shot.
