Jeffrey Tambor Officially Let Go From Transparent After Harassment Claims

After three months since Jeffrey Tambor was first accused of sexual harassment on the set of Transparent, the actor has officially been let go by Amazon from the series.

It’s unclear if the next season of the series, its fifth, will be its last but Tambor will not be involved in the season in any capacity. With the investigation by Amazon into multiple allegations of misconduct by the Golden Globe and Emmy winner recently completed, the decision to cut the Maura Pfefferman portraying Tambor from the barrier-shattering Transparent was made in the past week.

No details of the investigation have been revealed to the public but Amazon stated that Tambor’s behavior on set “could not be justified or excused under scrutiny.” Creator of Transparent, Jill Soloway, had this to say about Tambor’s exit:

“I have great respect and admiration for Van Barnes and Trace Lysette, whose courage in speaking out about their experience on Transparent is an example of the leadership this moment in our culture requires. We are grateful to the many trans people who have supported our vision for Transparent since its inception and remain heartbroken about the pain and mistrust their experience has generated in our community. We are taking definitive action to ensure our workplace respects the safety and dignity of every individual, and are taking steps to heal as a family.”

One thing is for certain, much like other’s who have been ousted in the age of the #metoo movement, Tambor is now a stranger to the show that once garnered much critical praise and awards attention.
