Javier Bardem in Talks to Play King Triton in Disney’s The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid live action adaptation is coming together as yet another big name is rumored to play a major role in the film. Academy Award winner Javier Bardem is in talks to play King Triton in Disney’s live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.

Halle Bailey has already been cast as Ariel, while Melissa McCarthy is playing her evil aunt Ursula and Harry Styles is also in early talksto play Prince Eric.

The Little Mermaid  will be directed by Rob Marshall and written by David Magee. The film will incorporate original songs from the 1989 animated classic, as well as new songs from original composer Alan Menken with lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda.
