It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia Renewed For Four More Seasons

Talk about a show that keeps going & going & absolutely deserves it! It has been announced that It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia has been renewed for four more seasons that will take it through season 18. The series tops Ozzie and Harriet as the longest-running live-action scripted comedy in TV history.

FX CEO John Landgraf made the announcement as part of Disney’s investor day presentation. The news comes as both Landgraf and producers have been open about keeping It’s Always Sunny on for as long as possible. “We’re going to keep doing it forever if people keep watching,” creator and star Rob McElhenney said in January while promoting his apple series, Mythic Quest. It’s Always Sunny was the first scripted comedy series on FX and has since shifted to the younger-skewing offshoot, FXX.

The show is part of a comedy lineup at FX/FXX that also includes Archer, Atlanta, Better Things, Breeders, and Dave, among others. The show centers on the misguided dreams and blundered schemes of the gang at Paddy’s Pub: Mac (Rob McElhenney), Dennis (Glenn Howerton), Charlie (Charlie Day), Dee (Kaitlin Olson), and Frank (Danny DeVito).
