Hustlers Dances Away With $2.5 Million In Thursday Night Previews

Hustlers debuted last night for Thursday previews and it looks like it’s hustling its way to an impressive debut this weekend.

Hustlers grossed $2.5 million in Thursday night previews, an impressive start that tops the previews showings for Girls Trip ($1.7 million, $31.2 million opening),  Bad Moms ($2 million, $23.8 million opening) and Rocketman ($2.3 million, $25.7 million opening). Hustlers is tracking anywhere between $23-30 million this weekend and the preview number has it on track to debut in that range.

Hustlers was made for $20.7 million and is on its way to being a much needed win for STX Entertainment after a series of flops with UglyDolls and Poms. It’s like to top its own Bad Moms ($23.8 million) to become the companies biggest opening and anything over $23.1 million this weekend for Hustlers reps a live-action opening record for Jennifer Lopez, besting her 2005 high Monster in Law. With good reviews (89% on Rotten Tomatoes) and solid word of mouth thus far on social media, Hustlers is steadily becoming the movie we didn’t see coming and could very well be an Oscar contender for Jennifer Lopez.
