HBO Eyeing Mark Ruffalo For It’s Parasite TV Series

A few months ago, it was reported that HBO and Bong-Joon Ho were developing a tv series based on the film, Parasite. The hype for the series has certainly increased after the film won 4 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Film. Since then, we have rumors about potential casting for the upcoming series.

Collider is reporting that “multiple sources” say that HBO wants Academy Award nominee Mark Ruffalo to play one of the leads in the show. While Collider is reporting the rumor, they do confirm it’s not a done deal with Ruffalo, but it seems very confident that he is at least being strongly considered.

Not much is known about series except   Bong Joon Ho only teasing that it would give him a chance to tell some stories he didn’t have room for in the movie, which may confirm that it’s not necessarily a straight adaptation. If Ruffalo really ends up being in the show, he might not end up playing a direct analog to one of the characters in the movie.

Mark Ruffalo told TMZ regarding his appearance on the series and thoughts on Bong,

“(Bong is) amazing, I love him. He’s amazing. His speech last night was incredible. It’s an amazing movie. I’d be honoured to be able to play something in that.”

“You know how it is. Nothing’s done until it’s done. Maybe one day. It would be cool to be part of it.”
