Harry Styles In Talks To Play Prince Eric In Live-Action Little Mermaid

Harry Styles may be headed under the sea. The former One Direction member is in early negotiations to play Prince Eric in Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid.

As previously reported, relative newcomer Halle Bailey will be playing Ariel in the film while Melissa McCarthy has been in early talks to take on the role of Ursula. The project will be helmed by Rob Marshall, who is coming off directing Mary Poppins Returns last year.

The live-action adaptation will incorporate original songs from the 1989 animated classic as well as new tunes from composer Alan Menken with lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Styles made his acting debut in Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk in 2017. He was recently one of several performers up for the role of Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s untitled Elvis biopic but the role ultimately went to Austin Butler.
