Greenland (Official Trailer)

It’s a race against time for Gerard Butler in the first trailer for Greenland, which promises impending destruction as a comet speeds towards Earth.

In the film, a family fights for survival as planet-killing comet races to Earth. Butler plays John Garrity who is joined on this perilous journey by his estranged wife Allison (Morena Baccarin) and their young son Nathan. Their only hope is to reach sanctuary amid terrifying news accounts of cities around the world being destroyed by the comet’s fragments. As the countdown to the global apocalypse approaches zero, the Garity’s experience the best and worst of humanity as they try to make a last-minute flight to a possible safe haven.

It has been a while since we’ve gotten a good old-fashioned disaster movie and honestly, this kind of stuff has become Butler’s bread and butter so I could be all in on this one as a fun summer distraction. Directed by Ric Roman Waugh with a script by Chris Sparling and Mitchell LaFortune, Greenland will be braving the reopening of movie theaters in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic when it hits screens of August 14, 2020, via STXfilms.
