GLOW Renewed For Fourth & Final Season

GLOW is getting one more round in the ring. Netflix has renewed the critically acclaimed wrestling comedy for a fourth and final season.

The series, which stars Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin & Marc Maron, will return for 10 episodes. A premiere date for the new season has not been released at this time but previous seasons have been released during the summer.

Creators and showrunners Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch took a risk going into the third season by ending it on a cliffhanger. Netflix has a tendency to re-evaluate its original series after three seasons, with some cancellations coming after this point, but the streamer gave the comedy another season to wrap up its story because it has more story to tell.

GLOW was inspired by the short-lived but beloved wrestling series from the 80s about the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling and introduced a 15-woman ensemble as actresses turned wrestlers. Since its start, GLOW emerged as a critically praised series and has earned 15 Emmy nominations and three wins, along with a Screen Actors Guild Award and two Art Directors Guild Award wins.

The decision to end GLOW is still a surprising one despite the streamer’s typical business of canceling certain shows around this time. It’s an awards contender and still seems strong creatively. This also doesn’t feel like a plan by the creators to be four and done but it still had a good run and will likely provide fans with an excellent final run of ten episodes.
