Glass Shatters Thursday Night Previews With $3.7 Million

Glass broke into Thursday night previews and kicked off what should be an impressive turn over MLK weekend.

Glass earned $3.7 million in Thursday night previews that started at 7 PM from 3,200 theaters. This is the best Thursday preview performance for Shyamalan, besting the $3 million in Thursday night previews that The Last Airbender made in 2010. The preview number also came in way ahead of Split’s $2 million Thursday number which indicates that it should top the $40.1 million that Split earned during its opening weekend in 2017. The film expands  3,841 locations today.

Glass could earn anywhere between $50-65 million over the long weekend, with some even saying $70 million is possible. It will definitely be one to watch this weekend, especially since it could very well be frontloaded due to the fanboy rush.  Fandango had advance ticket sales for Glass well ahead of Split which posted an opening day of $14.6 million (previews repped 14% of that figure).

In other Thursday box office news,  Funimation’s Dragon Ball Super: Broly was No. 1 for the second day in a row with $3.3 million, for a two-day total of $10.4 million. The film opened surprisingly well with $7.06 million on Wednesday and while it fell off on Thursday, it’s still an impressive performance for a film with such a niche audience. It may very well be another film to pay attention to this weekend.
