Freddie Prinze Jr. Cast As Nancy Drew’s Dad In CW Pilot

If you’re in your early to mid-30s, this might make you feel old. Freddie Prinze Jr. is about to play a dad. The actor has been cast as the dad of Nancy Drew in the pilot inspired by the classic mysteries about the brilliant young sleuth. Prinze will take the lead opposite Kennedy McMann who will be playing the title role.

The project hails from Josh Schwartz & Stephanie Savage & it centers on 18-year-old Nancy Drew and is set in the summer after her high school graduation. She thought she’d be leaving her hometown for college, but when a family tragedy holds her back another year, she finds herself embroiled in a ghostly murder investigation and along the way, uncovers secrets that run deeper than she ever imagined.

Prinze will be playing Nancy’s dad, Carson Drew, a dynamic attorney who has become estranged from Nancy following the recent death of his wife. His attempts to reconnect with his daughter derail when Nancy’s murder investigation reveals unsettling secrets from his past.

Prinze has actually been pretty busy as of late. He recently wrapped shooting a role as one of the two male leads on the CBS comedy pilot, I Mom So Hard. He’s also married to Sarah Michelle Gellar so he gets extra cool points for that haha.
