Frances McDormand’s Oscar Is Stolen After the Oscars

In what may be considered a first, Academy Award winner, Frances Mcdormand’s Oscar was stolen at the after party. After the brief scare, Mcdormand was reunited with her Oscar after the thief was caught. A representative for Mcdormand stated,

“After a brief time apart, Frances and her Oscar were happily reunited,” “They celebrated the reunion with a double cheeseburger from In-N-Out.”

Terry Bryant was taken into custody on Monday afternoon and faces a charge of grand theft, which in California is a “wobbler,” meaning the crime can be prosecuted either as a misdemeanor or a felony. That choice will be made by the district attorney’s office. If it is a felony and Bryant is convicted, that could mean up to three years in jail.
