Fast 9 Trailer Draws Huge 439 Million+ Views Since Miami Trailer Launch, Pre-Sale Tickets Currently 50% Ahead Of Previous Film

The Fast Saga may be the subject of some ridicule because of how over the top it has all become but there is no denying that is some of the best escapist entertainment out there and with the recent release of the trailer for Fast And Furious 9, it seems fans still want more. The trailer pulled in a lot of views after its launch and pre-sale ticket sales are already outpacing the previous film, The Fate of the Furious.

Since dropping its trailer ahead of its Super Bowl TV spot last Friday, the first look at Fast And Furious 9 has clocked a massive 439.3 million global views across YouTube, Twitter and Facebook and that number is steadily growing way ahead of its May 22 release date. The Fast 9 trailer has also registered other records that indicate the film is likely to be very huge once it’s released.  In its first 72 hours, it amassed 262 million global views, which bests Avengers: Infinity War‘s first trailer drop over the same period (that movie having drawn 238 million viewers in its first 24 hours). And at 151 million views, F9’s nearly 4-minute trailer is a 24-hour record for a Universal movie.

There there is the Super Bowl TV spot, which also put up some big numbers. The 30-second spot drew 8 million views in its 24 hours following the game. According to social media analyst RelishMix, the combination of the 30-second spot plus the full trailer resulted in 110.9 million views in the 24 hours following the Super Bowl across Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram which eclipsed the online postgame traffic for a slew of upcoming event films including Black Widow (18.1 million views), Mulan (12.4 million views) and No Time to Die (10.1 million views) among many others. In terms of other Fast films, the F9 trailer’s post-Super Bowl draw bested the postgame day traffic of Furious 7 (23.9 million views), Fate of the Furious (42.2 million views) and Hobbs & Shaw last year (85.5 million views). Consumers also liked what they saw with the Fast 9 trailer, with the sentiment above all comps at a combo of 93% positive and neutral.

As for pre-sale tickets which have gone on sale relatively early compared to most event films, the first four days on Fandango has it outpacing The Fate of the Furious by 50%. In addition, F9 has sold nearly four times as many advance tickets as Hobbs & Shaw over four days.

Tickets for F9 went on sale following Friday’s concert in Miami with appearances by Cardi B, Ludacris, and Ozuna as well as Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth, who were behind the Furious 7 Paul Walker theme “See You Again.” The livestream concert’s viewership has clocked 12 million views in its first 72 hours.
