Emergence Takes A Hit In Week Two On ABC

Despite being one of the better-reviewed new series of the fall season, Emergence took a hit in its second airing on ABC.

Emergence hit a 0.6 demo rating and 3.58 million viewers, down two tenths from its series premiere last week. ABC also saw declines from the rest of its Tuesday night lineup. The Conners (1.1, 5.50 million viewers), Mixed-ish (0.7, 3.54 million viewers), & Black-ish (0.7, 3.16 million viewers) also dropped two tenths from their last week demo numbers. Bless This Mess took a smaller hit, falling only a tenth week to week with a 0.7 demo score and 3.77 million viewers.

On NBC, This Is Us was the clear winner of the night with a 1.7 demo rating and 7.43 million viewers, down just a tenth week to week. As usual, the series was the top-rated show of the night in the 18-49 demo. Also coming down only a tenth was the Tuesday run of The Voice which saw a 1.5 demo score and 8.91 million viewers at 8:00 PM. NBC maintained the ultimate demo win of the night across all networks with New Amsterdam which also only dipped a tenth to a 0.9 demo rating and 5.32 million viewers.

CBS had a good night with FBI actually rising week to week with a 1.0 rating in the adults 18-49 demo this time around. The sophomore series also generated the night’s second-largest audience (9.44 million viewers). NCIS, its lead-in, had the largest audience of the night (12.16 million viewers) and it maintained its 1.3 demo rating from a week ago. NCIS: New Orleans capped off the night for CBS with a 0.7 demo score and 6.96 million viewers, also steady with its premiere last Tuesday.

On Fox, The Resident (0.7, 3.81 million viewers) and Empire (0.9, 2.98 million viewers) also fell one-tenth from their ratings a week ago.

This week NBC & CBS can claim Tuesday victories. NBC led the demo numbers for each other of programming across all networks and only saw declines of about a tenth for each of its shows. CBS had FBI which grew week to week and steady performances from both of the NCIS series for the night. ABC is the clear loser this week with Emergence taking a serious hit in week two. Delayed viewing is going to be one to watch this week.
