Early Buzz Suggests Oscar Is In Play For Joker

Joker is still a few months from its release, however, the buzz for Joaquin Phoenix performance as the Joker is already getting praise as those who have already seen the film call it Oscar-worthy.

According to a source speaking to Awards Ace editor Erick Webber, someone who has seen the film had nothing but good things to say about Joaquin Phoenix’s version of the Joker. They insist that Joaquin Phoenix will be nominated at the upcoming Oscars for his performance. The phrase that is being used is “dark, disturbing & unforgettable.”

The most interesting take from this early buzz is Warner Bros. apprehension to hit the festival competition scene. They wanted to be in a more protected situation, however, Todd Phillips said:

‘I don’t care if I run the risk of not winning. Why shouldn’t I go in competition when I know what we’ve I’ve got on our hands?’”

“I have to say, Warners was convinced pretty rapidly, because it’s a really surprising film. It’s the most surprising film we’ve got this year…This one’s going straight to the Oscars even though it’s gritty, dark, violent. It has amazing ambition and scope.”

There is no awards season more intriguing at the moment than Todd Phillips’ Joker.
