Disney Plans Musical Oliver Twist with Ice Cube

Ice Cube may not be playing the Green Lantern, as rumored earlier in the year. He will be joining the Disney family as Fagin. Walt Disney Studios is teaming with Ice Cube and Thomas Kail, the Tony-winning director of Hamilton, for a modern and musical take on Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist.

The new take on Oliver Twist will be a modern musical with sources describing it as crossing many genres, including hip-hop. Cube and Kwatinetz are sharing the writing responsibilities, with Cube attached to play Fagin.

With the success of the broadway hit Hamilton, is there a possibility this adaptation will be a success? Comment Below?
