Disney made a ton of movies with their upcoming slate of films on Tuesday as they released a number release-date changes, along with movie title changes as well. First on the docket is Indiana Jones 5 who is set to move from its original July 10, 2020 release date to July 9th, 2021. The reason for the change is because Spielberg is in pre-production on a reboot of West Side Story and even looking at directing The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara with Oscar winner Mark Rylance.
Another move comes from Disney’s potential Oscar player as they have chosen to move up its anticipated musical Mary Poppins Returns by one week from Christmas Day to Wednesday, December 19. The move gives the film a head start at the box office before the December 21 releases which include Aquaman, Bumblebee, Alita: Battle Angel, Welcome to Marwen and Holmes & Watson.
Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt’s Jungle Cruise was also moved to October 11, 2019. In regards to title changes, Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet now is simply known as Ralph Breaks the Internet.
