Danny McBride States Halloween Will Pay Tribute to the Sequels

We are just a few months away from the release of one of the most anticipated horror films of the year, Halloween. Thought the production process, it was made clear that this version of Halloween is going to be a story that will eliminate all the continuity of every single film past the original Halloween. Instead, the John Carpenter and Blumhouse film will follow directly after the original film and look at its characters 40 years later.

Despite the fact that this Halloween sequel will eliminate all sequels, co-writer Danny McBride says it won’t be leaving them completely behind. McBride stated,

“This picks up after the first one,” McBride just told Flickering Myth. “The Halloween franchise has kind of become a little bit of like choose your own adventure, you know like there’s some many different versions, and the timeline is so mixed up, we just thought it would be easier to go back to the source and continue from there.“

“We do [reference the other movies]. For fans, we pay homage and respect to every Halloween that has been out there.”

Halloween opens on October 19, 2018.
