Danny Boyle Writing & Likely Directing Bond 25

Danny Boyle is starting writing work on Bond 25 & the director is likely to helm the project as well.

“We are working on a script right now,” Boyle told Metro.us on Wednesday night while attending the premiere of his FX series, Trust.

MGM had previously announced that the 25th edition of the long-running franchise would be written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, who collaborated on earlier Bond films: Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall and Spectre. I’m not sure if they’re still involved in any capacity but Boyle indicated he was working with Trainspotting’s John Hodge on the script for James Bond 25.

Boyle hopes to start shooting James Bond 25 by the year’s end. Before that, he and Love Actually screenwriter Richard Curtis are teaming for an untitled music-themed comedy set up at Universal that the studio is eyeing for an early-summer shoot. Boyle had this to say about the upcoming schedule:

“And it all depends on that, really. I am working on a Richard Curtis script at the moment. We hope to start shooting that in six or seven weeks. Then Bond would be right at the end of the year. But we are working on them both right now.”

The 25th James Bond film is set to hit U.S. theaters on November 8, 2019.
