Clive Owen Will Play Bill Clinton in Impeachment: American Crime Story

American Crime Story has found their president. Clive Owen has reportedly been cast as Bill Clinton in the upcoming third season of Ryan Murphy’s drama series American Crime Story. The casting which was first reported by Variety will Have Owen play Clinton during his most talked about years. The series will revolve around Clinton’s impeachment. Owen will portray the American politician alongside Beanie Feldstein, who is set to play Monica Lewinsky, Clinton’s former intern. Lewinsky is a producer on the series, as is Feldstein.

This will be the third season of American Crime Story, following back-to-back Emmy-winning seasons about the O.J. Simpson trial and the death of Gianni Versace.

Impeachment: American Crime Story is based on the 1999 Jeffrey Toobin book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President. Murphy has been trying to make the show since 2017, but put it on ice until he was able to get Lewinsky on board. He got his wish after running into her at a Hollywood party in 2018 and telling her: “Nobody should tell your story but you, and it’s kind of gross if they do. If you want to produce it with me, I would love that; but you should be the producer, and you should make all the goddamn money.”

The rest of the cast for Impeachment will be rounded out by Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp and Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones. The role of Hillary Clinton has not yet been cast.
