The second official trailer for Child’s Play has arrived and it looks like the remake is turning Chucky into an Alexa-like device gone horribly wrong.
The new Chucky, voiced by Mark Hamill, who sounds pretty similar to original Chucky voice actor Brad Dourif, is apparently a kind of rogue home control device similar to Amazon’s “Alexa.” But as we see in the new trailer, Chucky, known as the “Buddi,” can pair with every “smart” device made by his creepy parent company, Kaslan. Essentially it’s Child’s Play for millennials.
This “upgrade” leaves him able to control everything from phones to home appliances to cars and even drones, as he goes on his bloody rampage through Chicago, terrorizing random citizens along with his owner, Andy (Gabriel Bateman), and Andy’s mom, Karen (Aubrey Plaza).
This is going to be a pretty polarizing remake. I actually don’t mind the new techno spin on it but if horror fans were looking for a faithful adaptation of the 1988 classic, they may feel a bit disappointed.
Child’s Play hits screens on June 21. Check out the new killer poster below!
