#OneChicago means all series stick together! It has been announced that Chicago Med, Chicago Fire & Chicago PD have been renewed for new seasons at NBC.
“We remain in awe of the job Dick Wolf, our producers, casts, and crews do in creating some of the most compelling television today,” said Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, co-presidents of scripted programming at NBC Entertainment. “The ‘Chicago’ franchise is a lynchpin of our schedule and we’re thrilled that audiences have embraced our Wednesdays with such incredible passion for these shows and characters.”
The news comes as Chicago Wednesdays are proving to be a sure bet for the network. The Nielsen company said both Chicago PD and Chicago Fire scored their highest ratings in nearly two years last week with crossover episodes where they shared casts. Chicago Med actually had the biggest audience of the triumvirate with 9.1 million viewers, although the other two were close behind.
For those keeping score, Chicago Fire will be entering season 8, while PD and Med will return for their seventh and fifth seasons, respectively. Chicago Med and Chicago Fire average a 1.3 in the 18-49 demo, making them tie for second behind This Is Us for the top shows on the network in the key demo. In total viewers, Med, Fire & PD rank number 2-4 among NBC dramas.
