The Russo Brothers have unveiled the first footage from their upcoming movie Cherry, starring Tom Holland, & I have to say it’s one of the films I’m really looking forward to this year.
Cherry follows an Army medic suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder that becomes a serial bank robber after an addiction to drugs puts him in debt. The Russo Brothers have been praising Holland’s performance for a while now & they think he has a shot at some awards attention. The first footage from Cherry finds Tom Holland’s character signing up for the United States Army after his girlfriend breaks up with him. It’s only about a minute of footage, but you can already tell this is a significant departure for the young actor.
Cherry will be released in select theaters starting on February 26th, before heading to Apple TV+ on March 12, which puts it right at the cutoff for eligibility at the Academy Awards in this extended season.
