CGI May Bring Leonard Nimoy Back to Life in Upcoming Star Trek Films

It’s been long confirmed that Paramount Pictures is moving ahead with a fourth Star Trek film with Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pine reprising their roles as father and son, George and James Kirk. Simon Pegg is even hard at work on a new script. But one actor who could come back is Leonard Nimoy, who originated the role of Spock. Nimoy recently passed in 2015. His son, Adam, is game to allow his father to come back as a CGI character.

Recently interviewed by TrekMovie, Nimoy, while promoting his upcoming Star Trek: Deep Space Nine documentary What We Left Behind, discussed the possibility of the resurrection onscreen.

“Yeah I think it’s an interesting idea. I loved what they did in Rogue One. I thought it was pretty clever, and I was blown away by it, frankly. All of the stuff that Peter Cushing was doing was mind-boggling to me. I’m a sucker for that stuff. I think it should certainly be explored, but I’m not the final arbiter as to whether it’s going to happen, but I think it’s a great idea, personally. There are more parties involved than just me as to whether it’s going to happen. On a personal level, I think it would be cool.”

No word yet on if Nimoy’s Spock or Zachary Quinto will play a role in the fourth film. A release date has also not yet been confirmed.
