So, the second trailer for Cats has arrived & I feel pretty much how I did after the first trailer: I just don’t quite think this works for the big screen treatment but perhaps they’ll prove me wrong. I will say the new trailer does showcase more of the star-studded ensemble cast that looks to bring this unique Broadway musical to life for moviegoers.
Adapted from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical of the same name, the film features characters from T.S. Elliot’s poetry book “Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats”, known as the “Jellicle” tribe. Every year, the group of felines must decide which one of them will ascend to the Heavside Layer and come back to a new life.
I will say there is a lot of talent involved here. Tom Hooper, who helmed The King’s Speech & Les Miserables, is in the director’s chair while the stars include Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellan, Rebel Wilson, Taylor Swift, James Corden, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Judi Dench & Francesca Hayward.
Cats hits screens on December 20.
