Candyman Shifts From June To September Due To COVID-19

Another June release is vacating its release date. It has just been announced that the Candyman reboot/spiritual sequel will be moving from June to September due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Jordan Peele-produced horror film, originally slated for a June 12 release, will now haunt theaters on September 25. A trailer for the film dropped in February and it was well-received but it arrived before the pandemic overwhelmed the States & caused films to delay their releases & movie theaters to close their doors. Due to the Candyman move to September 25, the Will Packer produced musical romance feature Praise This is currently undated as a result with no new release date at this time.

Candyman stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Us), Teyonah Parris (If Beale Street Could Talk), Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Misfits) and Colman Domingo (Fear the Walking Dead) & is helmed by Nia DaCosta. The film is the re-imagining of the 1990s horror franchise about a murderous soul with a hook for a hand, who is accidentally summoned to reality when people say his name five times in the mirror. The new film is set in a now-gentrified Chicago neighborhood where the legend began.
