Black Panther II news came straight from the D23 Expo over the weekend. Director Ryan Coogler announced that the sequel is set for a 2022 release.
The exact date will be May 6, 2022, which allows it to lead off the summer box office for that year. As for the long wait, Coogler says they are taking their time with it because they really want to get it right.
Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige said Coogler has delivered a treatment, complete with a villain and new title, though neither would give up those details at the event.
Black Panther II will arrive over four years after the release of the original film, a pretty sizeable gap between films but if they’re doing this to get it just right, at this point we have no reason to not trust Marvel and any of their plans.
