Black Panther is only a couple of weeks away and it’s already breaking another advanced ticket sales record. Fandango has announced that the film is the top-selling superhero film of all time, outpacing the ticket sales of Warner Bros/DC’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The film went on to open with a massive $166 million.
In even further bragging rights, Black Panther is still the No. 1 daily ticket seller on Fandango even though it doesn’t open in theaters for two more weeks, on February 16. The news has honestly been very bright for the film since Monday’s world premiere and social media embargo was lifted. The early reactions highly praised the film and this could also be a huge factor in its surge in advanced ticket sales.
Box office tracking projects that Black Panther will debut to around $120 million, possibly as high as $150 million over four days. The all-time opening records for February and the Presidents Day holiday belong to Fox/Marvel’s Deadpool ($152.1 million). I’d put money on the fact that Black Panther will eclipse that opening and could very debut higher than the best studio estimates.
