Awkwafina In Talks To Join Cast Of Jumanji 2

Awkwafina may be headed to the jungle! The scene-stealing actress from Crazy Rich Asians is in final negotiations to join Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart in Sony’s sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.

The plot for the new movie is being kept under wraps as is Awkwafina’s character, although it is described as “key” and “significant” by the studio. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was based on the picture book by Chris Van Allsburg and builds on the 1995 movie adaptation, both of which told the story of a magical board game in which wild jungle animals came into the real world. The latest adaptation updated the premise by making a video game the vessel that transported four teens into the game and had them portrayed as avatars by Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan.

Awkwafina had a banner 2018 as part of the ensemble of Ocean’s 8, which grossed $297 million worldwide, and of Crazy Rich Asians which grossed $174 million at the domestic box office.
