Atlanta Season 2 Delayed Until 2018

Fans of Atlanta will have to wait awhile for a second season of the critically acclaimed FX comedy. The show won’t return for season two until 2018.

The news was announced at the TCA’s with the reason for the delay being star Donald Glover’s production schedule. He’s slated to star as the young Lando in the upcoming Han Solo movie that is scheduled for release sometime in 2018.

Hailed as one of the best new comedies of 2016, Atlanta won the Golden Globe for Best Comedy and Donald Glover took home the Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy. The show also won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, and Glover was recently nominated for a WGA Award and DGA Award. Atlanta also has been a ratings breakout, ranking as basic cable’s most-watched new comedy in three years in Adults 18-49 and the highest-rated comedy in FX Networks’ history, averaging 4.84 million total viewers across all linear and non-linear platforms.
