Antebellum (Teaser Trailer)

Lionsgate has released the teaser trailer for Antebellum after months of project secrecy and the Janelle Monáe thriller looks like it’s going to be one mind-bending mystery.

Lionsgate is still being a bit secretive about the project, trying not to give away much but here is the brief synopsis released by the studio:

“Veronica Henley (Janelle Monáe) is a successful author who finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality and must uncover the mind-bending mystery before it’s too late.”

The trailer seems to imply that the film involves a plantation and some supernatural connection that links its preserved present-day finery and its ominous 19th-century history of slave exploitation and violence. The project is written and directed by the newcomers Gerard Bush + Christopher Renz and also stars Eric Lange, Jena Malone, Jack Huston, Kiersey Clemons, Tongayi Chirisa, Gabourey Sidibe, Robert Aramayo, Lily Cowles, and Marque Richardson.

Antebellum hits screens on April 24, 2020.
