Anne Hathaway in Talks to Replace Amy Schumer in Barbie Movie

Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway is in negotiations to star in Barbie. Hathaway would replace  Amy Schumer who live the project back in March, citing scheduling conflicts.Along with Hathaway, Alethea Jones is in talks to direct the film after being handpicked by Hathaway, who was integral in the search for a filmmaker.

The original plan for The Barbie Movie was to turn the Barbie mythology into a contemporary story on the very popular toy line with an emphasis on identity and feminism. Channeling the “fish out of water” mentality of Enchanted, the script of Barbie will tell the story of a woman that slowly awakens to the fact that she doesn’t fit into the perfect land of Barbies and journeys to the real world, where she discovers that being unique is needed to make it.
