For most singing competition shows, the live shows are when the ratings begin to dip but in the case of American Idol, the show is continuing to boost ABC’s Sunday night performance.
On ABC, American Idol scored a 1.8 in the 18-49 demo and 8.60 million viewers. The demo score is down only a tenth from last Sunday’s live shows which is a strong showing for the recently renewed competition series. Following Idol, Deception was off a tenth of a point at a 0.7 demo rating and 3.39 million viewers.
On FOX, the season finale of The Last Man on Earth earned a 0.7 demo rating and 1.71 million viewers, even with last week and with last season’s final episode. The Simpsons held steady with last week’s preliminary 0.9 demo rating and 2.10 million viewers (it adjusted up in the finals), but Bob’s Burgers (0.7, -0.1, 1.52 million viewers), Brooklyn Nine-Nine (0.7, -0.2, 1.65 million viewers) and Family Guy (0.9, -0.1, 1.93 million viewers) all declined.
On CBS, Instinct (0.7, 6.97 million viewers) and NCIS: Los Angeles (0.8, 7.69 million viewers) each rose a tenth on, but Madam Secretary fell a tenth to a 0.5 demo rating and 5.92 million viewers.
On NBC, Timeless dipped a tenth to a 0.5 demo rating and 2.26 million viewers.
