AMC CEO Hopeful Theaters Can Reopen by Mid-June

Cinephiles are in a situation they never expected to be, a world without movie theaters. Since March 17th, all of the theaters including AMC’s have been closed. Despite the closures, AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron is forecasting that U.S. movie theaters may reopen by mid-June.

Aron told CNBC’s Squawk Alley show on Tuesday, “We said we expected to be shut for six to 12 weeks. That would be May 1 to mid-June. That might be more the right timing. I think if we learned anything in the last two weeks is people just want to get out of their houses. I think we’re all feeling cooped up and want to get out and have life return to normal.”

The real question will be is will theaters be jam-packed upon reopening or will cinephiles wait a while before returning to the theater – only time will tell.
