All American Scores Three Additional Episodes For Season 2 After Hitting Viewership Highs On Monday

All American is being rewarded for its high viewership return on Monday night. The CW has ordered three additional episodes for its second season.

This will bring the drama’s episode count to 16 episodes, matching All American‘s freshman order and could be considered a full season for The CW given their crowded slate between fall and spring. The CW has been ordering fewer than 22 episodes for some of its full-season pickups which has worked well for them in terms of scheduling.

All American’s first season gained more exposure on Netflix after it wrapped on The CW and it was the primary reason why the series was renewed for a second season. Its season 2 debut last night logged a series-high viewership (926,000) and the show’s best Live+Same Day 18-49 rating since November 28, 2018 (0.3). Versus its series debut last fall, All American was up by 35% in viewers, 95% in adults 18-34 (0.3) and 66% in adults 18-49.

Season 2 of All American finds Spencer James (Daniel Ezra), now a football State Champion, with a tough decision to make. Does he stay in Beverly Hills and play for Coach Billy Baker (Taye Diggs)? Or does he move back home to South LA, reunite with his mother, Grace (Karimah Westbrook), brother, Dillon (Jalyn Hall), and play for his father, Corey (Chad Coleman) – the new head coach for the South Crenshaw Chargers?

The hope for All American is that the series will see similar streaming success when season 2 becomes available on CW streaming platforms since Netflix no longer has a first-look deal with them for new shows.

All American airs Monday’s at 8:00 PM on The CW.
