AFI Cancels Birth of a Nation Screening

Amid Nate Parker’s recent rape controversy, the American Film Institute has decided to cancel an upcoming screening and Q&A of Birth of a Nation that was scheduled for this Friday.

Parker addressed the controversy recently with Variety – he was acquitted of all charges in 2001. But as Birth of a Nation has begun its awards-season campaign, Parker has come under intense scrutiny for his alleged part in a rape and things seem to continue taking a tide for the worse for the director.

Could future screenings be canceled? We’ll have to wait to find out.
