In an exclusive first reported by Deadline, The Big Short‘s Adam McKay will direct an upcoming Dick Cheney biopic for Paramount Pictures. The biopic is not yet titled and will tell the story of Dick Cheney from his beginnings as a chief executive at Halliburton to Vice President of the United States. McKay has also written the screenplay. He told Deadline about his excitement for the project stating,
“I’ve always found Cheney fascinating. Questions of what drove him, what his beliefs were; but once we started digging I was astounded at how much he had shaped modern America’s place in the world and how shocking the methods were by which he gained his power.”
The film is expected to be released in late 2017.
