Black-ish creator Kenya Barris is set on remaking 1992’s White Men Can’t Jump and will produce the project with Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin and Carolina Panthers lineman Ryan Kalil.
The original starred Woody Harrelson, a former college basketball star who wins bets against streetballers who think they can beat him because he’s white. His hustling strategy changes when he runs into Sidney (Wesley Snipes), another baller who tricks Billy out of a huge chunk of cash. Eventually, Sidney and Billy form a partnership that slowly grows into a friendship as they enter 2-on-2 tournaments for big bucks.
Barris is set to write the screenplay as well. No word yet on whether it will be a full retelling of the 1992 original or a reimagining. No stars are yet attached to the project.
