While the Oscar Season is a few months from kicking off, the festival scene may look different once the season commences. However, the oldest film festival in existence will not be detoured from their festival. As first reported by Variety, The Venice Film Festival will continue its preparations for the September 2-12 event despite coronavirus concerns, and ruled out the possibility that the fest could go digital. A Venice spokesman told Variety on Monday that “the Venice Film Festival cannot be replaced by an online event. There is obviously the possibility that we use technology for some initiatives,” but noted that at present “it’s too early for this to be decided.”
Venice, which is considered the world’s oldest film festival, in January, announced that Cate Blanchett would preside over its 77th edition.
