Reel Chronicles celebrates 25 years of Michael Mann’s Heat this week. The film tells the story about two weary men on either side of the law in Los Angeles – one a cop married to his profession, the other a career criminal with no intention of going straight.
A powerful, influential film with striking performances and striking camera and script work from Mann, along with cinematography from Dante Spinotti and a score by Elliott Goldenthal, Heat is a film not to be missed. It’s also notable for marking the first time acting icons Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro have worked onscreen together (they never shared the screen with The Godfather Part II despite being in the film together).
