John Oliver to Voice Zazu in Disney’s Lion King Live Action Remake

John Oliver has joined the cast of Jon Favreau’s Lion King remake as Zazu. Oliver is joining an already impressive voice cast that includes Donald Glover (Simba)  James Earl Jones (Mufasa), and  Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner, who will voice Pumbaa and Timon, respectively.

The film will be written by Jeff Nathanson (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales)  and directed by Favreau. There is plenty of excitement with Favreau directing as his 2016 Disney live action reboot, The Jungle Book was one of the best of the year.

John Oliver, who is best known as the host of HBO’s Last Week Tonight has had his share of voice acting before. Oliver has voiced Vanity Smurf in Sony’s The Smurfs and Smurfs 2.

Lion King is set to be released by Disney on July 19, 2019.
