The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Warner Bros. is switching up studio leadership on their DC Comics films. Jon Berg, co-president of production at Warner Bros. will leave his post to become a producer. Berg ran point on DC movies and was a producer on Justice League, along with being an executive at the studio for a decade. President of Warner Bros. Pictures Group Toby Emmerich says the decision to leave was Berg’s.
In a statement, Emmerich said that “this is something that Jon approached me about six months ago, and he expressed his goal was to ultimately be a producer at the studio. We’re thrilled that Jon is partnering with Roy Lee and anticipate their company being a valuable source of movies for Warner Bros. and New Line.”
Just over a year ago, Emmerich, the former head of New Line Cinema, replaced Greg Silverman to improve the studio. In 2016, Berg was named to lead the DC Films with DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns in order to improve the superhero films after the failure of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
