Rian Johnson Planning New Star Wars Trilogy

Looks like Rian Johnson isn’t done with Star Wars just yet. The Last Jedi director has announced that he has a brand new trilogy planned immediately following episode IX in the recent trilogy.

Though no details were confirmed as to whether Johnson’s trilogy will borrow characters featured in earlier films, Disney and Lucasfilm did announce in a statement that, “In shepherding this new trilogy, which is separate from the episodic Skywalker saga, Johnson will introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored.”

President of Lucas Films, Kathleen Kennedy, added that “[Rian is] a creative force, and watching him craft The Last Jedi from start to finish was one of the great joys of my career. Rian will do amazing things with the blank canvas of this new trilogy.”

What do you think about the new trilogy? What stories do you want to see told?
