A special episode of Law & Order: SVU, a format-breaking episode centering on Benson’s (Mariska Hargitay) interview with a rape victim, saw solid ratings for the veteran NBC drama.
The show scored a 1.5 rating in adults 18-49 and 7.11 million viewers, both of which are season highs. Chicago PD tied its season high at a 1.3 demo rating and 6.91 million viewers.
Empire”returned from a week off and came back down to earth with a smaller audience — its 1.6 demo score and 5.08 million viewers was down from 2.0 two weeks ago. It still led the night for scripted programming (along with Modern Family) but the Law & Order episode was the closest a show has come to taking the top spot from Empire in quite some time. Star held steady at a 1.2 demo rating and 3.68 million viewers for FOX.
ABC’s The Goldbergs (1.4, 5.61 million viewers, -0.1), Modern Family (1.6, 6.13 million viewers, -0.1), American Housewife (season-low 1.0, 4.53 million viewers, -0.3) and Designated Survivor (0.7, 4.04 million viewers, -0.1) were all down vs. their last episodes. Speechless was steady at a 1.1 demo rating and 4.19 million viewers.
Riverdale (0.5, 1.40 million viewers) and Dynasty (0.2, 700,000 viewers) were both even with their last episodes on The CW.
