Reel TV Ratings: (Tuesday) – Black Lightning Has Strong Start On The CW

The CW was all new on Tuesday and it featured a strong series premiere from a new addition to the superhero lineup.

The series premiere of Black Lightning scored a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 & 2.31 million viewers, retaining all of its lead-in from The Flash (0.8, 2.47 million viewers) Aside from the Legends of Tomorrow crossover episode in late November, it was the best rating for The CW in the time period this season, and the highest-rated series debut on The CW since Legends in January 2016. The series received stellar reviews and fan reaction seems positive so it will be interesting to see how it holds up next week.

NBC led the night despite a slightly down showing for This Is Us, whose 2.5 demo rating and 9.77 million viewers was off 0.2 from last week. Chicago Med (1.5, 7.87 million viewers) rose a tenth of a point to end the night on NBC.

All of FOX’s shows were up for the night, with Lethal Weapon tying its season high at a 1.2 demo rating and 4.97 million viewers and LA to Vegas (0.9, 2.77 million viewers) and The Mick (0.8, 2.30 million viewers) each improving a tenth of a point vs. last week.

On ABC, The Middle was up a tenth at a 1.4 demo rating and 6.11 million viewers, while Fresh Off the Boat (1.0, 3.87 million viewers), Black-ish (1.0, 3.76 million viewers) and Kevin (Probably) Saves the World (0.6, 2.56 million viewers) all held steady.

CBS aired repeats for the night.
