Reel TV Ratings: (Monday) – The Good Doctor Returns Steady

There isn’t much ratings news to report since the networks mostly stayed on the sidelines due to the College Playoff title game but The Good Doctor returned and held up steady against the competition.

The series scored a 1.6 demo rating in the 18-49 demo and 8.22 million viewers. It was the highest-rated and most-watched broadcast series on a night where CBS, Fox and The CW decided not to air original programming. Facing the Alabama-Georgia game, Good Doctor tied its season low in the demo logged by its last original broadcast on December 4 before taking its holiday break.

This showing is stellar because a lot of eyes were on the big game and the series didn’t decline in the wake of it and we can’t forget how hard the 10 PM timeslot on Monday nights has been for ABC in the past. The entire time it aired after Dancing With the Stars in the fall it actually outperformed its lead-in the key demo and it did so again last night (The Bachelor hit a 1.4 demo rating and 5.51 million viewers ahead of The Good Doctor).

The Brave returned on NBC but its fortunes weren’t as bright as it managed a season-low 0.6 demo rating and 2.96 million viewers.
