It’s time to channel your inner “Dancing Queen” once again. Universal has dropped the trailer for the summer sequel, Mamma Mia!: Here We Go Again and it comes at us in all its singing and dancing glory.
The sequel shifts back and forth in time to show how relationships forged in the past resonate in the present. The original Mamma Mia, based on the hit Broadway musical which features the songs of Abba, was a huge hit when it was released. The film grossed $610 million worldwide and played as counterprogramming to the also popular Batman sequel, The Dark Knight.
All of the original cast returns for the sequel, including Meryl Streep, Christine Baranski, Julie Walters, Amanda Seyfried, Dominic Cooper, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgard. New to the cast are Lily James showing off some pipes as Young Donna, along with Andy Garcia, Alexa Davies, Jessica Keenan Wynn, Jeremy Irvine, Josh Dylan and Hugh Skinner. Hell, even Cher joins the party for the upcoming sequel.
The musical comedy will open on July 20, 2018. Check out the trailer below:
