Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge are set to lead City On A Hill, a new pilot for Showtime that is executive produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.
The series is written by Chuck MacLean and based on an original idea from Affleck himself. The show is set in Boston in the early ’90s and is a fictional account of what was called the “Boston Miracle.” The change agent is District Attorney Decourcy Ward (Hodge), who comes from Brooklyn and forms an unlikely alliance with Jackie Rhodes (Bacon), a corrupt FBI veteran who is deeply invested in maintaining the status quo. Together they take on a family of armored car robbers from Charlestown in a case that grows to encompass and eventually upend Boston’s citywide criminal justice system.
Bacon seems to be in high demand for TV series. He wrapped the first season of I Love Dick for Amazon back in May (although a decision on a second season hasn’t been made) and he’s attached to star in the Syfy pilot of the Tremors reboot, which has him reprising his role from the 1990 film.
Hodge starred on the critically acclaimed Underground but it was canceled when WGN shifted its focus from scripted programming.
